Motivating others to do something is tricky. Like all behavior, It is a function of temperament (genetics/heredity), and the subjects current state of mind -- how satisfied are they with the present situation and is it painful enough for the effort to finally be worth it? Has the cost of not changing become too high or intolerable? Complacency and apathy are difficult nuts to crack. How do you motivate others? Yourself?
If you have set yourself upon a major self improvement project, chances are you will fail. This is because the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. So, you will probably do what you always do. Does that hurt your feelings? Bummer.
